Based on the hit 1976 film, starring a pre-teen Scott Baio and Jodi Foster, and featuring a catchy, swinging score by the composer of The Muppet Movie, Bugsy Malone JR. is good, clean, comedic fun!

Two gangs in a fictitious city populated only by children are in a rivalry of Capone-ian standards. Dandy Dan's gang has gotten the upper hand since acquiring the "splurge" gun (a weapon that shoots whip cream). Bugsy Malone, a one-time boxer, is thrust into the limelight when he becomes the last chance Fat Sam's gang has of surviving. All Bugsy really wants to do is spend time with his new love, Blousey... but that just isn't in the cards for our hero.

Why Musical Theatre Matters

Having a regular creative outlet is not just part of a well-rounded education – it’s essential for a child’s emotional health and well-being. A production brings music, movement, and storytelling together, offering growth opportunities for every type of learner:

  • Kinesthetic learners engage their bodies through dance.

  • Linguistic learners dive into the written and spoken word.

  • Spatial learners explore set and costume design.

  • Musical learners connect deeply with the show’s score.

Life Skills Students Gain Through Theatre

Self-Confidence
Rehearsals and performances teach young actors to take creative risks, trust their abilities, and shine on stage.

Literacy
Reading scripts, memorizing lines, and taking rehearsal notes help students strengthen reading and writing skills.

Communication
Performers practice articulating their thoughts clearly, asking thoughtful questions, and listening closely to directions.

Imagination
From design to character choices, students use creativity to build a believable world onstage.

Empathy
By stepping into a character’s shoes, students explore new perspectives, develop compassion, and better understand others.
